System76 has introduced an updated version of its Thelio Mira desktop series, focusing on improved thermal performance, easier maintenance, and a refined aesthetic. Continuing its tradition of in-house manufacturing at its Denver facility, System76 has reimagined the Thelio Mira chassis with a blend of aluminum, steel, and a tempered glass front panel. A new vertical control bar streamlines the power button and front I/O ports into a single, elegant strip, contributing to the system’s modern look.
Improved Cooling and Accessibility
The latest Thelio Mira is engineered for both performance and user convenience. Steel fasteners are used throughout the build, and the panels are designed for quick, tool-free access, making upgrades and maintenance straightforward. On the cooling front, System76 has implemented significant enhancements, including liquid cooling and optimized airflow. According to the company, these changes deliver up to 19% higher sustained CPU clock speeds and reduce temperatures by as much as 13.5°C, ensuring stable performance even under demanding workloads.
High-End Hardware and Customization Options
At the heart of the new Thelio Mira is the ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi motherboard, supporting the latest AMD Ryzen processors up to the Ryzen 9 9950X or 9950X3D. Users can configure the system with up to 192 GB of DDR5 memory and a total storage capacity of up to 28 TB, utilizing both NVMe and SATA drives. Graphics options include a single GPU up to the NVIDIA RTX 5090 or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, connected via PCIe 5.0 for maximum bandwidth.
Connectivity is comprehensive, featuring USB4, 2.5 GbE Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and a variety of front and rear USB ports. Power supply options range from 750 W to 1000 W, accommodating even the most demanding GPU configurations. The Mira Elite upgrades to 96 GB of RAM, a 4 TB SSD, and an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, available for $4,799.
