MSI Unveils Budget-Friendly 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

MSI recently introduced the MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 in China, and now the display has appeared on its global website, hinting at a worldwide release of this more affordable 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor. The base specifications are similar to the MPG 272URX QD-OLED model, with both offering a 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response time, peak HDR brightness of 1000 nits, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Both models feature a graphene film with a custom heatsink to cool the QD-OLED panel, MSI's OLED Care 2.0, and a three-year warranty.

However, the MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 only supports DP 1.4a, while the MPG 272URX supports DP 2.1a. Both displays have two HDMI 2.1 ports and a USB Type-C input with DP Alt mode. The MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 offers only 15 W USB PD charging, compared to the 98 W charging of the MPG 272URX. MSI has removed the USB hub and KVM support on the MAG model, but kept the headphone jack. The MAG model also has basic VESA Adaptive-Sync support, without FreeSync or G-Sync compatibility. On the positive side, MSI has included console-specific modes at 60 and 120 Hz at various resolutions, a new feature. VRR is supported for consoles as well. The design of the MAG model is similar to the MPG model, making it easy to mistake the more affordable option for the higher-end one. The price in China is 5,499 RMB, with global pricing yet to be announced.
